PUBLIC WELCOME – GNCTR 2012
The Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race, Canada’s longest running engineering competition, is coming to Calgary, Alberta and we want you to be part of the Canadian history.
Come out to see Universities from across Canada compete in the 38th annual competition. Events open to the public are as follows:
TECHNICAL EXHIBITION DAY – February 10, 2012
10:00 am – 2:00 pm – MacEwan Student Centre, University of Calgary
Sponsored by the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA)
Check out the technical design and innovation required to produce a fast, robust, and safe concrete toboggan. Students give technical presentations on their concrete mix, superstructure, brake, and steering design…all while in theme oriented costumes.
RACE DAY - February 11, 2012
9:00 am – 3:00 pm – Canada Olympic Park, Main Ski-hill
Sponsored by Holcim Canada Inc.
The main event, and what we’ve all been waiting for! Watch as 5 students plumment down the hill at Canada Olympic Park, daring to reach speeds of 50-80 km/h. Come out to see who will be crowned this year’s “King of the Hill”.
